An Extra Spring in My Step

Worn: April 29, 2013

I've continued to experiment with heels from thrift stores since the unexpected success of the shoes I bought for Frolicon. The comfort of heels is highly individual and not well correlated to their height, so finding ones that work for me is a slow process. I'm wearing one of my successes today. Despite the four inch heel, these boots don't feel high or make me less steady on my feet. They're actually a lot of fun to walk in, putting an extra spring in my step.

Like Wearing a Sack

Worn: April 26, 2013

I decided to try this top as another match to my pink zebra hoop earrings. Otherwise I might only wear them with my pink zebra scarf, as here.

I rarely ever wear loose, flowing tops, as I think they look like I'm wearing a sack, especially in profile. But my friends tend to be unusually proactive and effusive in their praise for my outfits when I do.

Bait & Switch?

Worn: April 22, 2013

I bought two new "Coach Tour" dresses from Modcloth over Thanksgiving, this one, in "Violet", and another, in "Spearmint". They didn't seem quite as nice as the "Bleu" I had bought a year earlier, so I carefully inspected them. Every hem and every seam appears to be identical, but the new dresses are made with a slightly thinner and shinier material that looks cheaper. I wonder if the new colors were always that way, or if lower quality fabric was substituted when the style became popular on Modcloth. Don't get me wrong; I still like the dresses and expect to get a lot of use out of them. But my temptation to continue buying more colors in the style has greatly waned.

Superhero

Worn: April 8, 2013

I read a lot of Marvel comic books. I even make superhero costumes to wear to science fiction conventions. But it wasn't until I put this outfit together that I really got a glimmering of why a superhero might be so satisfied with their costume that they stick with the same look, day in, day out, year after year. This is probably my favorite outfit I've ever put together. And with a heavy belt, short skirt, fishnet tights, knee boots, and sort of a cape, I feel like a superhero.
